As we're finally finishing up reading The Hobbit (too many activities lately, I guess, to have not finished earlier), Kathleen made up one of the scenes she liked. First we made this Kool Aid Dough...and I must say, it lasts and smells pretty good (at least the cherry flavored does). This scene shows the captured dwarves and Bilbo inside the goblin king's cave.
Can you tell which are which?
Which are the goblins and which are the dwarves?
All 13 dwarves are lined up...with the fat one, Bombur, at the very front of the picture.
Where's the hobbit and the wizard?
Behind the 13 dwarves. Gandalf has on a pointy-like hat.
The goblin king is in the WAY back. He's the one with the crown sitting down, and he's flanked by large guards.
Now that the kids are so enthralled with this prelude book, I don't think I can get them to wait until we read through the Lord of the Rings before we watch their Veggie Tales movie, "Lord of the Beans."
Our kids have now crowned their new favorite author. Mikey's favorite has always been Bill Peet, but now it's J.R.R. Tolkien. (We haven't even gotten to C.S. Lewis yet!)
